What should I bring?
In addition to your own personal belongings, you should consider bringing life jackets for non swimmers and children, a flashlight, an umbrella, and beach towels. There are coin operated washers and dryers, as well as, pop/soda/ice vending machines.

Why should I consider Severn Lodge for my wedding?
Ontario resort weddings, and in particular Muskoka resort weddings, have been a tradition for years. Today, there are not as many Ontario resorts that cater to weddings. However, Severn Lodge continues a long tradition of creating lasting memories. Our spectacular location, traditional ambiance, and personalized service all contribute to this very special occasion. Unlike city weddings, you have all of your guests with you during the weekend. Not only will they be coming to attend your very special day, but they will be enjoying a weekend getaway at a beautiful Ontario resort with a host of recreational opportunities at their doorstep. Severn Lodge is also one of the few remaining historic Ontario resorts, and has been owned and operated by the same family for nearly 100 years.

Where is Severn Lodge?
The resort is nestled on the northern shores of Gloucester Pool, part of the Trent Severn Waterway in the world famous Muskoka ~ Georgian Bay lake district. It is situated on over 2000 feet of private shoreline, is surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine natural woodlands, and has a breathtaking view of numerous pine clad islands and sheltered bays. Conveniently located just off Hwy 400, it is an easy 1 ½ hours north of the greater Toronto area.

By all means, we would love to show you the resort and our facilities. Please contact our group sales manager to set up a date.

When can I have my wedding?
We host weddings in the months of May, June, September and October each year.

Do you host weddings in the summer?
In general, we do not host weddings in the summer, as most of our guests during the summer months are enjoying their Ontario vacations. However, if you have a small wedding of 20-30 persons we would consider hosting it in the summer as long as all guests stay for the weekend on one of our summer packages.

How many guests can the resort accommodate for a wedding?
We can accommodate up to 140-150 guests for dinner in our dining room and up to 200 for dinner in a party tent that is set up on our front lawn.

Are there any minimum requirements?
If your wedding is on a Saturday in June, September or October, a minimum of 100 wedding guests is required, and your guests must book 23 rooms on the Friday night and 46 rooms on the Saturday night. In this case, you will have exclusive use of the resort from noon Saturday to noon Sunday. If your guests book 46 rooms on both nights, then you will have exclusive use of the resort for the entire weekend. If your wedding is in May or during the week in June, September or October there are no minimum requirements.

What if my guests do not book the minimum number of rooms required?
Normally weddings of 100 or more will have no problem reaching these requirements. However, if they do not make the minimum number, then you would be responsible for them.

What kind of packages do you offer wedding guests?
We offer one and two night Ontario resort wedding packages that include accommodation in a waterfront room/suite, breakfast the next morning, and use of most resort recreation facilities.

Can I have just my wedding ceremony here?
Yes, under some circumstances we host the wedding ceremony only. Please contact our group sales manager for details.

What is the food like?
Our Executive Chef has been with us for 10 years and is an award winning chef. He is a past winner of the Muskoka Chef Association – Chef of the Year award and prior to taking his position at Severn Lodge worked at some of the finest hotels and resorts in Ontario. To see his credentials, please go to the Dining page and click Executive Chef. We primarily serve traditional Canadian cuisine, but can prepare any kind of specialized meals you might desire.

Can I bring my own liquor?
You can purchase your own liquor for use in one of our banquet rooms, but only if you have obtained a SOP Permit from the LLBO. This liquor must be consumed inside the room named on the SOP Permit. If you want specific liquor or wine that we do not normally carry, we can get it for you from the LCBO as long as we have at least 2 weeks notice. If your wine is not available through the LCBO and only available at an Ontario winery, you will have to make your own delivery arrangements. Certain restrictions do apply, so please ask our group sales manager for details.

Can my guests bring their own liquor?
Yes, as long as they consume it in their own room. According to our LLBO license, they are not permitted to drink alcoholic beverages not purchased from the resort through our license anywhere outside their room. The LLBO has very strict fines for non-compliance, so we must enforce their regulations.

Do the bride and groom receive a complimentary room?
For weddings of 100 or more the bride and groom will receive a complimentary room on Saturday night as long as they stay at the resort on Friday night and meet our other minimum requirements.

Can you help with flowers, photography, entertainment, etc?
Yes, we can recommend professionals in the area for all of the above. Please contact our group sales manager.

Are there extra charges for the use of your facilities?
There is a facilities charge that covers the use of various rooms, set-ups, tear downs, tents, etc. Please ask our group sales manager.

How do I pay?
Generally, there is a schedule of payments required for a wedding. Our Wedding Coordinator can tell you how this works.
